450mm and 600mm diameter piles were required to for new structure foundations which were required to be installed within the confines of existing pipework.

Some of the pipework infrastructure was of a sensitive nature and Martello’s MP4000 and MP5000 series rigs were chosen because their small plan area and low headroom made them ideally suited to operate between and underneath the exiting pipework. Piles were up to 13m deep and generally constructed in dry conditions, using temporary casing to keep out ground water and unstable strata.
